“Best Player” of this year’s Second Division Football Tournament, Adam Nizam has been included in the national football squad.
RaajjeMV understands that Nizam has in fact been selected to the national squad, with the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) even having requested for his release at Soneva Fushi Resort where Nizam is employed.
As soon as he is granted release, the skilled player will join the team practices.
It has been reported that Nizam was included in the national squad following an injury celebrated forward Asadhulla Adbulla attained during the first leg of the AFC Cup playoffs held in capital city Malé.
The squad, compiled under Netherlands Coach Martin Koopman’s directions, has since been amended. As such, Ishan ‘Sattu’ Ibrahim and Ismail ‘Messi’ Eesa who have been shining in this ongoing football season through TC Sports Club recently, joined the national football team earlier in February.
Other players to have joined the team include famed midfielder Mohamed Umair from Club Green Streets and Hassan Raaif from Club Eagles.
Maldives is set to go head-to-head against China on 26 March in the qualifiers and against Syria on 31 March.
Maldives is in Group A with Syria who is at the top spot with 15 points, China tailing behind with seven points and Philippines at third position with seven points as well. Maldives comes fourth with six points and at the last comes Guam, with nil points.
