She also competed in the under-18 category, where she reached the quarterfinals

Table tennis sensation, 12-year-old Fathmath Dheema Ali has won second at Thailand’s Chonburi PAO Table Tennis Open 2020.

While the tournament concluded on Monday morning, Dheema won silver in the the under-15 singles category.

She lost the final match against a Thai player, in three straight sets; 11-4, 11-6 and 11-3.

Dheema showed a strong performance throughout the tournament. While she won all the matches in the qualifying stages, Dheema won the quarter final match in three sets to one and the semi finale with three to two sets.

While the 12-yo won silver in the U-15 category, she had also competed in the under-18 one where she reached the quarterfinals.

Dheema is described as “the most accomplished table tennis player Maldives has ever seen.”; she won three gold medals in last year’s Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) among others.
