Majlis to be conducted in two sittings, to complete pending work
The Speaker announced this at Monday's sitting

The People’s Majlis will be conducting sittings in two sessions, for the next three days.

Speaker, former President Mohamed Nasheed announced this at Monday’ sitting, noting that the reason for this is to complete the work on its agenda.

He said that sittings will be held in two sessions; while the morning session will start at 9am, the night sessions are to commence at 9pm.

Noting that things will proceed as such “until the pending work on the agenda is completed,” the speaker stated that if the work completes early “sittings will not be held at night.”

Nasheed added that he did not want the work “to pile up.”

While the parliament has decided to hold sittings in two sessions, they will be on a nine-day break during Eid al-Adha. Further, it will go for a one-month recess on August 31.

Parliament sitting are held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
