An 11-year-old has succumbed to dengue fever.

Haajara Binthu Ali passed away on Thursday night at the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH)’s ICU.

She was being treated at the ICU since Wednesday.

IGMH confirmed that she was positive for dengue and sickle-cell anemia.

This is the second reported death from dengue fever, with the first being the death of a nine-year-old in July.

Over 900 cases of dengue fever were reported from January to March. Health Protection Agency (HPA) has advised the public to take precautions over the rising number of cases.
