Lightning has caused damage in HA. Uligamu.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, Uligamu Council Vice President Ahmed Ziyad Hassan said they observed lightning at 1:30am on Friday.

Ziyad said that the island was experiencing nonstop heavy rain and thunderstorms but that the weather is now relatively calm.

He said that no one has been hurt but that lightning has caused damage to household electronic equipment, including TVs and air conditioners.

He said the severe weather has been obstructing the island’s transport services and that the council is now assessing the damages.

The meteorological service has predicted continued rainy weather in the coming week and heavy rain in some parts of the country.
