Reported cases of Dengue Fever, Chikungunya increase

Those who have a fever of three days or show other signs of Dengue Fever are advised to seek medication treatment

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has urged the public to take precautionary measures over the increase of cases of Dengue Fever and Chikungunya.

In a press release on Sunday, HPA stated that reported cases of Dengue and Chikungunya show no sign of decreasing.

HPA gave instructions on preventing contracting the diseases from mosquitos such as wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants, and using mosquito repellent lotion and spray.

Symptoms of Dengue Fever include sudden high fever, severe headaches, fatigue, joint and muscle pain, vomiting, and mild bleeding.

Some home remedies include resting and drinking plenty of fluids, but those who have a fever of three days or show other signs of Dengue Fever are advised to seek medication treatment.

Authorities also urge the public to help eliminate mosquito breeding areas.

Reported cases of Dengue Fever and Chikungunya are increasing in capital city Male’ and in the atolls, similar to the same time period in previous years.
