A pharmacist at the ‘Apple Pharmacy’ in Muli island of Meemu atoll has been stabbed on Monday night.

The Maldives Police Service says that the incident was reported at 8:47pm and that they do no know who the attacker is.

Apple Pharmacy’s manager said that the assailant had attempted to rob the pharmacy, and that the pharmacist refused to comply. A witness said that the assailant wore a mask.

The 31-year-old Indian man is being treated at the Meemu Atoll Regional Hospital and according to doctors, had sustained injuries to his left elbow.

The police say they are investigating the matter.
