The cash inside a safe that was stolen from the state-operated power house in Molhadhoo island of Haa Alif Atoll has been recovered.

Police arrested two men for the robbery that occurred on Sunday night, and searched their homes. They were arrested on Monday night.

While they found large sums of money inside both homes, the exact amount that was inside the safe when it was stolen was found inside one, along with paraphernalia that officers believe were used for the robbery.

The police arrested a 26-year-old and a 20-year-old for the robbery, and the safe – which was found empty and discarded prior to their arrest – had a total of MVR 38,740.
