Masked assailants target young man in Gan island

A young man in Gan island of Laamu atoll was attacked by a group of masked individuals early Tuesday morning.
The incident is said to have occured at about 12:45am. The youth was attacked while at a futsal field at Gan island’s Mathimaradhoo ward.
The victim has recieved treatment at the regional hospital on the island and doctors say he sustained several wounds on his back.
The wounds indicate that he had been attacked by sharp objects as well as strong blunt objects, such as iron bars.
The Maldives Police Service has confirmed that their officers are investigating the matter.
