Ibrahim Saleem has been appointed as the chief executive officer at the state-run Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The former chairman at Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) replaces Farhath Shaheer, who resigned after the new government took over. His deputy Mohamed Rishwan had resigned as well.
Saleem was the chairman of MACL during former President Mohamed Nasheed’s administration, when the development of Velana International Airport- then Ibrahim Nasir International Airport- was handed to India’s GMR Group.
Back in January 2016, the Anti-Corruption Commission had investigated a corruption allegation against him. After concluding the investigation, the Commission had forwarded the case to the Prosecutor General’s Office seeking to raise charges against him.
However, no charges were raised.
