Two police officers were injured while responding to a fire in Villingilli island of Gaafu Alifu atoll.
The fire broke out late Saturday night, at the police accommodation unit in the island.
While both officers were asleep there at the time of the incident, police spokesperson said that they had joined the effort to quell the fire immediately after the fire broke out.
Furthermore, police spokesperson told RaajjeMV that two officers sustained burn injuries while working to control the fire, with one suffering a dislocated shoulder as well.
They were taken to Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital, in Thinadhoo island of Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, for treatment.
Noting that the fire was reported at around 1:45am, police said that it was extinguished by 5am on Sunday.
Police is currently investigating the reason for the fire outbreak.
