The 35-foot minaret at Rasdhoo island’s mosque has collapsed due to strong winds in the region.
The incident was reported at about 2:15 pm on Friday, and no one was injured. Rasdhoo council’s director Abdul Shakoor said that no other parts of the mosque were damaged.
The mosque was constructed with the aid of Universal Group, a local venture, about seven years ago. The mosque can accommodate up to 800 people.
