The ceiling has collapses in the country’s largest and newest school, in Sh Milandhoo.
The ceiling collapsed on the four-storey building, four days after SJ Construction handed it over to the Education Ministry.
Milandhoo Council Vice President Ahmed Siyam said he was worried that the ceiling collapsed in the computer lab right while schools are to open on Sunday (tomorrow).
Siyam said this accident means the building was poorly constructed.
He said that the school has yet to received a name plate and flag pole, and that some lights are also missing. He appealed authorities to fix these issues.
SJ Construction began constructing Milandhoo School in 2015, and it had cost the government MVR 57m.
