Four Special Operations officers arrested in AA. Rasdhoo
They have been transferred to Dhoonidhoo Detention Centre

Seven soldiers of the military's SPG under arrest as well

Four Special Operations officers have been arrested from Rashoo island of Alifu Alifu atoll.

Rasdhoo Council President Abdul Jaleel Moosa confirmed the arrests to RaajjeMV, adding that they have since been transferred to Dhoonidhoo Detention Centre.

RaajjeMV understands that all four had previously been stationed at the capital Malé City, but were transferred to Rasdhoo following the opposition’s plans to hold a mass rally on 16th February.

While they were arrested and first transferred to Malé on Monday, RaajjeMV understands that work is currently being carried out to appoint them legal representation.

A number of officers, both police and military, have been arrested since the declaration of a state of emergency on 5th February, including former Commander of the police’s Special Operations and Security Department (SWAT) team, Saif Hussain.

While Saif was arrested last Thursday, police revealed that two police officers had been arrested over an ongoing investigation. It did not reveal any further information on the matter.

RaajjeMV also understands that seven officers of the military's Special Protection Group (SPG) have been taken into custody as well.
