Ex-AG calls for workers strike on resorts refusing to place ballot boxes
EC President Shareef said that most resorts do not want to place ballot boxes
Shareef said he is willing to publicize the names of those resorts if required
Husnu Suood said people need to organize a work stoppage across all resorts that are refusing to place ballot boxes

Former Attorney General and prominent lawyer Husnu Al Suood has called for a workers strike on resorts refusing to place ballot boxes for September’s elections.

He said this in a tweet on Monday which linked to a news article in which Elections Commission (EC) President Ahmed Shareef was quoted as saying that most resorts did not want to place ballot boxes.

In the tweet, Husnu Suood called on citizens to find out which resorts they are and to “organize a work stoppage across all resorts who are refusing to place ballot boxes.”

EC itself drew criticism recently for initially allowing polling stations at only seven resorts. But due to growing public condemnation, EC has now decided to place polling stations at resorts with more than 100 eligible voters working in it.

At a press conference on Sunday, EC President Shareef said that most resorts do not want to place ballot boxes and that he is willing to publicize the names of those resorts if required.
