Police found bottles on two men reportedly caught selling alcohol near the island's terminal.
Officers also ceased 14 bottles found in the boot of a taxi.

Two men were arrested on Tuesday night in Hulhumalé after they were caught selling alcohol near the ferry terminal.

An official from the Maldives Police Service (MPS) told RaajjeMV that officers conducted a special operation after the two men were reported. The Police found two bottles on them, one sealed and the other poured into another container.

The MPS had also arrested two men transporting alcohol, also in Hulhumalé, and ceased 14 bottles from the boot of their taxi.

The official from the MPS added that February 14th of every year sees a rise in alcohol sales.

Consumption, possession, and the sale of alcohol is illegal on islands inhabited by Maldivians.
