Two injured in sea accident between launch and boat off Vilimale'

Two individuals sustained injuries following a collision between a launch and a boat off the coast of Vilimale'.
The Maldives Police Service stated that the accident occurred in the waters off Vilimale' and was reported at approximately 16:50 on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the police, the injured individuals are the captain and a crew member of the speedboat. However, neither sustained serious injuries. Both vessels involved in the collision suffered various degrees of damage.
While the exact cause of the accident has not been disclosed, the police confirmed that the matter is under further investigation.
Dangerous maritime accidents occur periodically in Maldivian waters. Recently, the police have also been investigating a hit-and-run incident involving a speedboat and a dhoni. Following the accident on July 9, the police located the vessel and suspended the captain's license on August 24, more than a month after the incident.
