Under the supervision of a special police committee, officials disposed of 4,285 cartons of cigarettes and over 93 kilograms of tobacco confiscated during the operation.

The police have destroyed a large quantity of cigarettes and tobacco products held in their custody.
Police announced on Tuesday that the items destroyed in Dhoonidhoo on September 28 were seized during an operation involving an illegal cigarette manufacturing ring. The items were confiscated from an office located in a Henveiru apartment, where machinery had been set up to illicitly produce cigarettes.
Police stated that this operation was conducted on January 30, 2025.
Police have confirmed that the destroyed items included 4,285 cartons of cigarettes, 232 individual packs of cigarettes, and 93.60 kilograms of tobacco.
The disposal of these items was carried out under the supervision of a specially formed committee, in accordance with the established protocols for the destruction of seized property in police custody.
