Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed has stated that a shortage of police officers stationed on an island should not be an excuse for a decline in the quality of service provided to the public.
Speaking at the inauguration of the newly constructed police station in ADh. Kunburudhoo, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed stated that the highest priority in delivering professional services to local islands is ensuring officers operate from facilities specifically designed for the policing concept and equipped with adequate resources. He further noted that after initially establishing a police presence on islands where none existed, the focus has now shifted toward constructing dedicated stations to provide comprehensive services.
Addressing the staff at the center, the Commissioner of Police emphasized that it is far more important for a small team of officers to deliver high-quality, efficient, and effective service. The Commissioner further urged the officers to set a positive example by fulfilling their duties to the highest standard, while maintaining close community relations in accordance with the law and established regulations.
It is far better to have a small number of officers performing their duties with efficiency and effectiveness than to have a large force that fails to meet public expectations. Providing quality service to the people with a lean team is the superior approach. Therefore, I urge you not to view limited personnel as an excuse. Instead, I expect the officers present to maintain close ties with the community in accordance with the law, fulfilling our assigned responsibilities to the highest standard and working in partnership with the public.Ahmed Mohamed
Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police stated that as the overall strength of the institution grows, additional officers and resources will be allocated to the Kunburudhoo Police Post. The Commissioner also emphasized that efforts will continuously be made to expand the services provided to the public through the integration of modern resources.
