Hulhumale’ Accident: Four in critical condition; three individuals were traveling against traffic on a single motorcycle without valid licenses

According to the police, the accident occurred when an unlicensed individual, carrying three passengers on a motorcycle suspected to be stolen, crashed into another motorcycle.

The Maldives Police Service has reported that five people were injured in a collision between two motorcycles on Nirolhu Magu in Hulhumalé Phase 2, with four of the victims currently in serious condition.
The accident occurred at approximately 2:55 a.m. on October 7, 2026. In a message shared with the media, police confirmed that the incident was reported to them at that time.
Police have reported that four out of the five individuals injured in the accident are in serious condition. After receiving initial treatment at Hulhumale' Hospital, they have been transferred to IGMH for further medical care.
According to the police investigation thus far, the accident occurred when one of the motorcycles, carrying three passengers, was traveling against the flow of traffic on a one-way street. Police further noted that the motorcycle is suspected to have been stolen and that the individual operating the vehicle did not possess a valid driving license for that category of vehicle.
The Maldives Police Service is conducting further investigations into the matter.
