331 police officers to be promoted this year

A total of 331 police officers have been selected for promotion within this year.
According to the official Maldives Police Service website, a total of 331 officers are scheduled for promotion this year. Half of these officers were officially presented with their new rank insignias during a ceremony held on Sunday.
During Sunday's ceremony, promotion letters were presented to 35 officers promoted from Senior Sergeant to Sub-Inspector, 121 officers elevated from Sergeant to Senior Sergeant, and 10 officers promoted from Constable to Sergeant.
Speaking at a ceremony held at Iskandhar Building, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed stated that the police leadership is prioritizing the timely granting of deserved promotions, honors, and medals to officers. The Commissioner further assured that the rights of any eligible employee, as defined under established policies and regulations, would not be withheld and would be duly fulfilled.
Addressing the officers at the ceremony, the Commissioner of Police stated that a promotion in rank signifies the need for greater diligence than before and the requirement to shoulder a higher level of responsibility. He further noted that upon returning to the field following their promotions, there will be increased scrutiny regarding whether their quality of service aligns with their new ranks. He urged the officers to lead by example and perform their duties in a manner that remains beyond reproach, both within the institution and in the eyes of the public.
Furthermore, highlighting police ethical standards, the Commissioner of Police stated that discipline is not optional, but rather a fundamental quality that must be upheld by every employee of the nation's primary law enforcement agency.
