The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecasted deteriorating weather conditions across the entire country over the next 24 hours.
The Maldives Meteorological Service has announced that adverse weather conditions are expected to prevail from 10:00 AM Friday until 10:00 AM Saturday, with widespread rain forecast for Friday morning. The department further noted that some islands are likely to experience heavy showers and thunderstorms, while scattered rain showers are expected to continue across various regions throughout the afternoon.
The authority stated that winds are expected to prevail from the southwest and west at speeds between 10 and 20 mph, with gusts potentially reaching approximately 35 mph.
The Maldives Meteorological Service has stated that seas are expected to be moderate but will become rough during squalls, with wave heights projected to reach between 3 and 6 feet.
As the Maldives experiences the onset of the southwest monsoon, the National Meteorological Center has urged the public to remain vigilant regarding weather conditions. Authorities have specifically advised seafarers to exercise extra caution during travel.
