The National Meteorological Service reported on Friday that Nilandhoo and Bileddhoo in Faafu Atoll recorded the highest rainfall in the country over the past 24 hours.
The Maldives Meteorological Service reported that F. Nilandhoo recorded 34.8 millimeters of rainfall between 8:00 AM Thursday and 8:00 AM Friday. During the same period, F. Bileddhoo recorded 30.2 millimeters of rainfall.
Additionally, the Maldives Meteorological Service reported that Hulhumale' received 24.3 mm of rainfall, while Male' recorded 22.3 mm. The national weather agency further noted that Hithadhoo in Addu City experienced 22.2 mm of rainfall during the same period.
The Maldives Meteorological Service has stated that scattered showers are expected to affect some islands starting Friday afternoon.
The National Meteorological Centre has stated that winds are expected to prevail from the southwest and west at speeds between 10 and 20 mph, with gusts potentially reaching approximately 35 mph during showers. The office further noted that seas are expected to be moderate but will become rough during squalls, with wave heights projected to range between three and six feet.
The National Meteorological Centre has urged the public to remain vigilant regarding the current weather conditions. The authority specifically advised seafarers to exercise extra caution during travel.
