President Muizzu meets with local leaders of Ukulhas

During the meeting, council members also highlighted challenges regarding waste management and the expansion of the local powerhouse, to which the President responded by assuring that these concerns would be addressed.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with the North Ari Atoll Ukulhas Island Council, the Women's Development Committee (WDC), and heads of various local institutions to discuss the island's most pressing developmental priorities. The meeting took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Ukulhas Convention Centre.
During the meeting, council members highlighted the urgent need for additional housing units to address the current housing crisis. They requested further land reclamation to be integrated with the island's existing reclaimed area, alongside the installation of water, sewerage, and electricity services, and the development of roads in the newly reclaimed zone. The councilors also shared the challenges they face in securing land required for the expansion of the island's powerhouse. Furthermore, the council requested that waste management responsibilities be officially handed over to WAMCO and sought the establishment of a mechanism to ensure the availability of fuel at affordable rates.
During the meeting, the President assured the Council that the concerns raised would be addressed. Furthermore, through the cabinet ministers in attendance, he provided the latest updates on the ongoing development projects on the island.
