Minor Arrested Over Assault in Hulhumalé
Police have arrested a 16-year-old minor in connection with an assault that occurred Sunday night near Hiyaa Park in Hulhumalé Phase 2. While no serious injuries were reported during the incident, authorities confirmed that an active investigation into the matter is currently underway.

A 16-year-old minor has been arrested in connection with an assault that took place on Sunday night near Hiyaa Park in Hulhumalé Phase 2.
Regarding the incident, police stated that a physical altercation involving a group of individuals near the Hiyaa Park area in Hulhumalé Phase 2 was reported at approximately 20:40 on the night of July 19, 2026.
The police have confirmed that a 16-year-old Maldivian male has been taken into custody in connection with the case.
Furthermore, police stated that no one sustained any serious injuries during the unrest.
The police are conducting a further investigation into the matter.
Incidents of violence have been on the rise recently. In addition to Male' City, such confrontations are also occurring across the atolls. Most recently, on the 10th of this month, four people were injured and treated at the hospital following a violent clash between two groups in Villimalé.
