Significant damage reported in Hiyaa flat fire; temporary housing provided for five individuals
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has announced that temporary housing has been arranged for a period of three days for five Maldivians, pending the completion of cleaning efforts at their apartment.

A fire broke out in a Hiyaa flat in Hulhumalé Phase II, resulting in significant property damage.
In a message to the media, the police stated that they received a report of a fire breaking out in an apartment within the eighth tower of the Hiyaa flats at approximately 1:27 p.m. on Sunday.
Police stated that the MNDF Fire and Rescue Service has successfully extinguished the fire, which originated in the apartment's kitchen. While the kitchen sustained extensive damage in the incident, no injuries were reported.
Regarding the incident, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) stated that the apartment is currently uninhabitable due to heavy smoke damage. Consequently, temporary housing has been arranged for a period of three days for the five Maldivians residing there, until the premises can be fully cleaned.
The fire broke out in apartment number six on the 19th floor of Hiyaa Tower 8.
