Over MVR 826,000 recovered in a week from theft and robbery cases
Maldives Police Service has successfully recovered over MVR 800,000 stolen in various theft and robbery cases across Malé within a single week. According to the police, this recovery accounts for more than 98 percent of the total funds reported missing during this period, with the money being retrieved through coordinated investigations conducted by multiple police stations in the capital.

The Maldives Police Service has recovered over MVR 826,000 stolen in various theft and robbery cases over the past week.
Police reported on Sunday that a total of MVR 838,434 was lost in theft and mugging cases reported across various areas of Malé between July 5 and 11, 2026.
According to the police, these figures include MVR 26,335 from cases reported to the Airport and Tourist Police, MVR 200,578 from cases filed with the Henveiru Police, MVR 203,968 from cases at the Galolhu Police, and MVR 407,553 from cases reported to the Maafannu Police.
Furthermore, police stated that following the investigation into these cases, a total of MVR 826,730 has been recovered. According to the police, this amount accounts for more than 98 percent of the total funds reported missing.
The funds recovered by the police include MVR 26,335 by Airport and Tourist Police, MVR 175,250 by Henveiru Police, and MVR 225,215 by Galolhu Police. Additionally, Maafannu Police recovered MVR 396,888, while Villingili Police recovered MVR 3,042.
The police stated that they prioritize the investigation of such reported cases, working diligently to recover stolen property and return it to its rightful owners. The service further noted that every item or sum of money recovered is a testament to the strong internal coordination and tireless efforts of the police, as well as their unwavering commitment to serving the community.
The police further stated that they remain committed to providing the necessary services to ensure community safety and security, while upholding the public's trust.
