Charges filed against suspects who robbed MVR four million from residential safe

The Prosecutor General's Office has filed charges against five individuals in connection with a major heist at an apartment in M. Nalahiya Residence. The defendants face charges of trespassing and property damage, while the prosecution has also requested the court to order the recovery of the stolen funds.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has filed charges in connection with the theft of MVR 3,992,000 from an apartment at M. Nalahiya Residence. The incident, which occurred on March 15, 2026, involved the breaking into of two safes located within the premises.

The Prosecutor General's Office filed charges in this case on June 25, 2026. Five individuals have been charged with the unlawful exercise of authority over another person's property.

The individuals involved include Ahmed Faris of M. Asia, Jazeel Mohamed from Nolhivaranfaru, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, and Mohamed Afrah from Meedhoo, Seenu Atoll. Also identified are Ismail Asif from  Maduvvari, Raa Atoll, and Mohamed Noor Ahmed from Naifaru, Lhaviyani Atoll.

Additionally, Faris, Jazeel, and Noor have been slapped with two further charges. These include the charge of criminal trespass and the charge of damaging property.

The charges were filed against them for breaking into an apartment at M. Nalahiya Residence on March 15, 2026, where they reportedly damaged bedroom doors and tampered with safes.

The Prosecutor General's Office has also requested the court to ensure that the stolen funds are recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
