President Muizzu attends oath-taking and arms presentation ceremony for graduates of MNDF Basic Training Course
After presenting ceremonial rifles to the students of the 72nd and 73rd MNDF Basic Training Courses, the President inspected the progress of the Girifushi land reclamation project. Aimed at enhancing military training infrastructure, this development initiative includes land reclamation, coastal protection, and the upgrading of the island's harbor facilities.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has presided over the oath-taking and arms presentation ceremony for the graduates of the 72nd and 73rd Basic Training Courses of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
The ceremony took place on Thursday afternoon at the Girifushi Training Centre parade ground.
During the ceremony, the oath of office was administered to the graduates by High Court Judge Al-Ustadh Hussain Mazeed. Following the oath-taking, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, in his capacity as the Commander-in-Chief of the Maldives National Defence Force, formally presented the graduates with their firearms.
The 72nd and 73rd Basic Training Courses of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) were conducted from March 7 to June 11, 2026. The 72nd batch underwent training at the MNDF Southern Area Command’s Addu Training Centre, while the 73rd batch completed their training at K. Girifushi.
The Basic Training Course is an introductory program designed to educate and train new recruits to a professional standard, enabling them to serve across various branches of the military. The primary objective of the course is to ensure that every graduate is a patriotic, disciplined, and physically fit soldier who upholds high moral standards and obedience. Furthermore, the program focuses on equipping recruits with the essential fundamental knowledge and tactical skills required for military service.
Following the oath-taking and arms presentation ceremony for the 72nd and 73rd Basic Training Courses, President Muizzu visited the K. Girifushi land reclamation site to inspect the progress and receive an update on the ongoing project.
The President's Office stated that this project is a key strategic priority aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the Maldivian military. It focuses on establishing essential training facilities for the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) to further develop the skills and professional competence of service members. The scope of the project includes land reclamation, coastal protection measures, and the upgrading of existing harbor facilities.
