Government Lacks Competence to Lead the Country: Azim
Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has criticized the government's administrative efficiency following delays in the national project to air-condition schools. Despite the Ministry of Education's claims that a significant portion of the project is complete, many schools remain unable to utilize the units due to the lack of necessary electrical infrastructure upgrades.

Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has stated that the current leader of the country, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, lacks the necessary expertise to govern.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "TV Talk" program, Azim stated that every field requires specialized and capable professionals. He noted that while there are experts specifically for accounting, auditing, and particularly for political affairs, the current administration appears to believe they can appoint anyone to any position and still achieve results.
Consequently, some among us believed that anyone appointed to the presidency would be capable of leading the nation. However, that is not the case. The issue lies at the very top. This is what happens when the country is entrusted to someone who lacks the necessary expertise. The President did not even realize that operating air conditioners for the "Cool School" initiative would require a generator. When things reach this level of incompetence, the entire situation descends into absolute chaos.Mayor Adam Azim
The Mayor’s remarks come as the government previously announced that air conditioning installation in all public school classrooms across the Maldives would be completed by September 2025 under the Education Ministry’s ‘Cool School’ project. However, ten months past that deadline, Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu stated last week that only 61 percent of the project has been completed.
The Minister stated that only 61 percent of the project has been completed, despite 10 months having passed since the original deadline. He further noted that while some air conditioning units have been installed, they cannot be powered due to the deteriorating condition of the existing generators.
Ahmed Azaan, the Member of Parliament for the Central Hithadhoo constituency, noted that although air conditioning units have been installed in all schools across Addu City, they remain non-operational due to a lack of power supply. Similarly, residents of Kolhufushi have reported that while the installation of air conditioning units at the local school has been completed, the systems cannot be used as the necessary wiring has yet to be connected.
