Six arrested for attempted assault with sharp weapons
Police have seized a folding knife and a significant amount of cash from six Maldivians arrested for allegedly plotting violent assaults using sharp-edged weapons in Malé and Hulhumalé. Following their court appearance, four of the suspects were remanded in custody for 15 days, while the remaining two were released under specific conditions as police continue their investigation into the matter.

Police have arrested six individuals during a special operation conducted following reports of a plot to carry out violent assaults using sharp-edged weapons in Malé and Hulhumalé.
Police have taken six individuals into custody following a court-ordered search of a guesthouse and the surrounding area on Raiveri Hingun. According to information released to the media, the operation was conducted based on allegations that the suspects were planning to carry out violent assaults using sharp-edged weapons in Malé and Hulhumalé.
All suspects taken into police custody in connection with this case are Maldivian men. The group includes two 30-year-olds, and individuals aged 21, 23, 32, and 34.
According to the police, a search conducted during the operation led to the discovery of a folding knife and MVR 39,695 in their possession.
When the suspects arrested in connection with this case were produced before the court for a remand hearing, the court ordered four of them to be remanded in custody for a period of 15 days. The remaining two individuals were released under specific conditions.
The police have confirmed that the matter is under further investigation.
