Authorities destroy large quantity of alcohol seized in connection with 21 separate cases
Maldives Police Service destroyed a large quantity of confiscated alcohol on Dhoonidhoo Island on Wednesday, in accordance with established legal procedures. The disposal included items seized across 21 concluded investigations and 13 incidents where no suspects were identified. According to authorities, the destroyed contraband comprised 364 branded liquor bottles, 78 PET bottles, and 25 cans of alcohol.

Authorities have destroyed a large quantity of alcohol seized in connection with 21 separate cases.
The items were destroyed on Dhoonidhoo island on Wednesday.
Police have announced the disposal of alcohol seized in connection with various cases and incidents. The destroyed items include alcohol from investigations that have reached completion, as well as seizures made by Drug Enforcement, Tourist Police, and Hulhumalé Police in cases where no specific suspects were identified.
Police have confirmed that the items destroyed at Dhoonidhoo included 364 bottles of branded liquor, 78 PET bottles of alcohol, 25 cans of beer, and seven other related items. According to the authorities, these items were seized in connection with 13 specific incidents and 21 formally documented cases.
Police further stated that the disposal of the alcohol was conducted under the supervision of a specially formed committee, in accordance with the established regulations for the disposal of alcohol and alcohol-related items seized and taken into police custody.
Authorities periodically destroy confiscated items held in police custody, including alcohol, cigarettes, vapes, and illicit drugs.
