Male' City Council removes 46 tonnes of waste from T-Jetty area
The Male' City Council has cleared 46 tons of waste from the T-Jetty area over a three-day cleaning operation. After inspecting the site, Mayor Adam Azim urged the public to refrain from littering in communal spaces and encouraged citizens to report those who dispose of waste illegally. In addition to the T-Jetty, the council is currently conducting similar cleaning initiatives across various parts of the capital, including the Carnival area.

The Male' City Council has cleared a large accumulation of waste discarded at the T-Jetty area, restoring cleanliness to the site.
A total of 46 tonnes of waste was collected from the area during the three-day cleanup operation.
According to the Male' City Council, the T-Jetty area was last cleaned prior to the start of this year's Ramadan. Consequently, the massive accumulation of waste occurred within a span of just five months. The refuse removed from the site consisted of a significant amount of discarded furniture and plastic materials, along with various types of general household waste.
During a site visit to inspect the ongoing cleanup efforts, Male' City Mayor Adam Azim stated that dumping waste on the streets and in public spaces is unacceptable. The Mayor urged the public to report such incidents to the City Council and appealed to those responsible to refrain from these activities.
In addition to the T-Jetty area, the Male' City Council has also conducted cleaning operations in the Carnival area. The Council noted that a significant volume of waste was removed from the site. Furthermore, the City Council has carried out extensive cleaning efforts across various locations in Male' and Villimale' over the past week.
Emphasizing that the cooperation of all residents is essential to keeping Malé City clean, the Council has requested the public to capture photos or videos of anyone seen littering on the streets and send them to 9341144. Additionally, the Council has urged the public to report such incidents by calling their hotline at 1622.
