Police have launched an investigation into an incident involving the shattering of a glass door at Masjid al-Furqan in Malé.
Regarding the incident, police stated that they received a report at approximately 4:10 a.m. on Sunday regarding the glass door of the Masjid al-Furqan being shattered.
Police have reported that no arrests have been made so far in connection with this case. However, authorities are currently investigating the matter and working to identify the individual or group responsible for the damage to the mosque.
Incidents involving the desecration of the Holy Quran and vandalism at the Furqan Mosque have been reported previously.
During that incident, copies of the Holy Quran at Masjid al-Furqan were thrown about and the mosque was vandalized. The perpetrator also destroyed the electrical boards and adapters located near the Imam’s prayer station. Although an individual was arrested at the time, they were subsequently released from custody.
Incidents of vandalism and inappropriate behavior within mosques in Malé have become a recurring issue. To curb such activities, members of the public are calling on relevant authorities to prioritize and strengthen security measures across these sacred spaces.
