59 arrested in week-long police operations
Maldives Police Service has arrested 59 individuals following more than 15,000 operations conducted to bolster security across the Greater Male' Area. According to police statistics, these efforts included responding to 45 road safety incidents and implementing crime prevention initiatives in Male', Hulhumale', and various administrative atolls. The operations also prioritized high-impact areas such as drug enforcement and gang crime suppression to ensure public safety.

The Maldives Police Service reported that it conducted over 15,700 operations last week, resulting in the arrest of 59 individuals in connection with various offenses.
Police stated that they maintained a continuous presence throughout the past week to ensure the safety and security of the Greater Male' Area, undertaking extensive efforts to reduce crime.
According to statistics from the past week, police conducted 15,798 operations to inspect and monitor various areas. During this period, over 325 incidents were reported, and 59 individuals were taken into custody through various police operations and law enforcement efforts. Additionally, traffic police and road safety teams attended to 45 accidents and other traffic-related incidents.
Police units operating in the Male' districts of Henveiru, Galolhu, and Maafannu have conducted inspections of 6,519 locations. A total of 172 incidents were reported from these areas, resulting in the arrest of 22 individuals. Meanwhile, police in Villimale', Thilafushi, and Gulhifalhu have inspected 2,249 locations. A total of nine cases were reported across these three islands.
Furthermore, authorities have inspected 6,486 locations across Hulhumalé Phase 1 and 2, with 128 cases reported from the area. Statistics also reveal that 18 individuals have been taken into custody in Hulhumalé.
Statistics released by the police reveal that the Drug Enforcement and Gang Crime Enforcement units, operating under the Central Investigation Command, have conducted searches of 544 locations. The data further indicates that 16 cases related to these crimes were reported, and 19 individuals were taken into custody by the Central Investigation Command over the past week. According to the statistics, 45 cases related to traffic police and road management were also filed during this period.
Police stated that extensive efforts were carried out over the past week to ensure public safety and security, as well as to reduce crime rates, across the Male' region and various islands throughout the atolls.
