Court orders closure of drug den in Maradhoo-Feydhoo
The Maldives Police Service has warned that unauthorized entry into drug dens shuttered by court orders is a criminal offense and will result in strict legal action. Highlighting the public's cooperation in ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks, authorities confirmed that operations to identify and close additional premises are currently underway. This crackdown is being conducted as a key initiative under the powers vested in the police by the Drug Act.

The Maradhoofeydhoo Magistrate Court has ordered the closure of a residence, S. Maradhoofeydhoo / Ummeedhuge, following allegations that the premises were being used as a drug den in Addu City.
The order will remain in effect for a period of 90 days, commencing June 15, 2026. Issued under the Drugs Act, this marks the first time the Maradhoo-Feydhoo Magistrate Court has ordered the closure of a premises used for drug consumption. Under the terms of the court order, unauthorized entry into the premises during the closure period is a legally punishable offense.
Police have warned that the strictest legal action will be taken against individuals who trespass on such premises or cause any form of damage to them. The police also expressed their gratitude to the residents of Addu City for their cooperation in ongoing efforts to curb the sale and trafficking of narcotics in the region.
The police have stated that they will continue their ongoing operations without interruption, utilizing the powers granted to them under the Drugs Act. Furthermore, authorities confirmed that efforts are underway to identify additional locations used for drug trafficking and consumption, and that such premises will be shuttered in accordance with the law.
