Weather deteriorates; White Alert issued from Lhaviyani to Alifu Dhaalu Atoll
The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast worsening weather conditions across the country, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected in several regions. Authorities have urged travelers and the public to exercise caution as wind speeds could reach 40 mph during squalls, leading to rough seas. Following significant flooding in Male' due to torrential downpours, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has been deployed for dewatering efforts, while official records indicate that Kaadedhdhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll received the highest rainfall over the past 24 hours.

A white alert has been issued from Lhaviyani Atoll to Alif Dhaal Atoll as weather conditions deteriorate across the Maldives.
A white alert has been issued from 12:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. today, with heavy rainfall expected across the region.
The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a white alert, forecasting widespread rain across the country from 10:00 AM Monday to 10:00 AM Tuesday. The office further cautioned that some islands are expected to experience heavy showers and thunderstorms.
The Maldives Meteorological Service has stated that winds are expected to prevail from the southwest and west at speeds between 10 and 20 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 40 mph during showers.
The Maldives Meteorological Service has stated that seas are expected to be moderate but will become rough during squalls, with wave heights ranging between 4 and 7 feet.
Additionally, the MNDF Fire and Rescue Service was deployed to carry out dewatering operations in Malé following heavy rainfall on Monday. Over the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Gaafu Dhaalu Kaadedhdhoo, which received 90.4 millimeters of rain. Meanwhile, Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo recorded 55.9 millimeters of rainfall.
Authorities have urged the public to exercise special caution and remain vigilant as weather conditions across the region continue to deteriorate.
