In this year's Hajj sermon, pilgrims were urged to remain steadfast in their devotion to Allah and to abstain from all forms of disobedience while performing the sacred rites of the pilgrimage.
Sheikh Ali bin Abdulrahman Al-Huzaifi delivered this year's Hajj sermon at Masjid al-Namirah in Saudi Arabia.
In his sermon, Sheikh Ali bin Abdulrahman Al-Huzaifi highlighted the essential etiquettes of the Hajj pilgrimage, emphasizing that pilgrims must abstain from all forms of transgression during this sacred journey. The Sheikh specifically advised worshippers to refrain from engaging in disputes, chanting political slogans, or making proclamations in support of specific factions. Furthermore, he underscored the sanctity of the Masjid al-Haram, warning of the severe divine retribution awaiting anyone who enters the holy site with malicious intent.
The Hajj sermon also highlighted the profound terrors of the Day of Resurrection. The Sheikh emphasized that the earthquake of that day will be a cataclysmic event, so terrifying that pregnant women will miscarry in their desperation to flee. He further reminded the faithful that people will appear as if intoxicated, wandering and running in a state of sheer panic. He concluded by urging the congregation to maintain piety and remain mindful of their devotion to Allah.
The sermon emphasized that preparing for the Day of Judgment is one of the most vital aspects of attaining God-consciousness (Taqwa). To this end, pilgrims were urged to distance themselves from sin, engage in righteous deeds, and ensure their worship remains sincerely devoted to Allah alone. Furthermore, the sermon called for unity among Muslims, stressing the importance of avoiding evil and strengthening the bonds of brotherhood. The Sheikh also reminded the faithful that true success lies in sincerity and steadfast obedience to the commands of Allah.
The Day of Arafah is a momentous occasion that commemorates the Farewell Pilgrimage performed by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) over 1,400 years ago. Following the delivery of the Hajj sermon, pilgrims performed the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, combined and shortened. The pilgrims will remain on the plains of Arafah until sunset today, devoting their time to worship and supplication.
