Meekail Naseem, the Member of Parliament for South Galolhu and a candidate for the MDP Chairperson position, has pledged to refund the election fees of all candidates who contested the recent local council elections on the party's ticket.
In a video released by Meekail, a candidate contesting for the position of MDP Chairperson, he pledged that upon winning the upcoming election, he would refund the administrative fees paid by all candidates who contested on the MDP ticket in the most recent local council elections.
Meekail stated that due to the party's current weakened financial position, it was unable to cover the fees for candidates in the recently concluded council elections. He further emphasized that the primary objective is to strengthen the party's financial management and, through a transparent system, transform the MDP into a financially robust and self-sufficient institution.
Furthermore, Meekail is currently campaigning across the Maldives under the banner of "Trust."
Meekail stated that many general members of the MDP frequently question whether he will remain with the party depending on election outcomes, describing this as a deeply regrettable situation. He noted that such doubts arise today because the current environment allows for them, fueled by how events have unfolded in the past.
Regardless of the outcome, Meekail provided assurances that he would remain steadfast with the MDP, continue his service to the party, and remain committed to its advancement.
