Ibrahim Nazil, the leader of the MDP Parliamentary Group, has stated that the candidacy of Meekail Ahmed Naseem, the Member of Parliament for South Galolhu, for the position of party Chairperson presents a vital opportunity to effectively reorganize the party.
In an interview with RaajjeMV during an ongoing campaign tour to the atolls to garner support for Meekail in the chairperson election, Nazil expressed high confidence that Meekail would secure victory in the MDP chairperson race.
Furthermore, he stated that Meekail’s victory in the chairperson election would provide the necessary momentum to effectively strategize the party for electoral success. Nazil noted that Meekail’s manifesto is highly transparent and clearly outlines a roadmap for strengthening the party's operations.
"Meekail is receiving significant support. We are very optimistic that he will be able to win this election," Nazil said.
The most intense competition for the MDP chairpersonship is between Meekail and former President Mohamed Nasheed. The election is scheduled to take place this coming June.
