Residents of R. Maduvvari have expressed concerns over the suspension of work at the Road Development Corporation (RDC) and Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) project sites on the island.
Residents who spoke to RaajjeTV from the island stated that work has come to a standstill at both adjacent project sites. They noted that operations at the Road Development Corporation (RDC) site have been stalled for more than two months.
However, according to a local resident named Hussain, the employees hired for the site continue to receive their salaries regularly. Information suggests that the project remains stalled due to a reported lack of necessary equipment and materials.
Consequently, he explained that while PNC members had discussed initiating the project through the constituency's representative, the work could not commence due to a complete lack of necessary equipment and resources.
"Bringing in three or four rolls of netting is not enough to get the job done. We were informed that the Maduvvari side would provide the necessary tools, and that work could proceed once they were received. Now that we have obtained two drills, the fencing work at the RDC site is making some progress."A source from the island who spoke to the media.
However, he noted that the situation at the MTCC site is even more dire. The equipment being utilized at the location consists entirely of aged and dilapidated machinery. Residents of the island have also expressed their concerns regarding the matter.
According to the source, staff were recruited for these sites just one month prior to the recent elections. He further noted that despite the large number of new hires, there was a complete lack of necessary equipment required to carry out the work.
