Boat utilized for 13 separate trips to transport roofing sheets for construction of MTCC site in Meedhoo
Maduvvari Council President-elect Shiham has expressed serious concerns over the stalling and slow progress of numerous development projects contracted to MTCC across Raa Atoll. He noted that while some work appeared to commence as a political gesture ahead of the elections, the prolonged delays on key projects, such as the Meedhoo site, have led to a significant loss of public confidence in the company. Shiham further emphasized that despite MTCC's large workforce, the public will not tolerate continued negligence toward island development.

Work on the construction of the MTCC site in R. Meedhoo has been ongoing for more than eight months.
During Thursday's "Fashaairu" program on RaajjeTV, the elected President of the R. Maduvvari Island Council, Hussain Shiham, highlighted the developmental progress of the atoll. He noted that while numerous development projects in Raa Atoll have been contracted to MTCC, he expressed significant concern over the current status of these initiatives. Shiham pointed out that a majority of these projects have come to a standstill. Furthermore, he raised concerns regarding the slow pace of the few projects that are currently underway.
Shiham stated that although the land reclamation project and the construction of the volleyball court in R. Maduvvari were awarded to MTCC, no practical work has been carried out to date. However, he noted that an excavator previously brought in for harbor work was moved to the reclamation site to commence operations just ahead of the Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections, as well as the referendum held on April 4th.
However, he noted that the public is well aware that a small excavator is incapable of land reclamation, describing it as a mere spectacle staged for the election. He further stated that MTCC faced public ridicule as a result of the stunt.
Furthermore, Shiham stated that fencing and roofing work are currently underway at the MTCC project site. Referring to Meedhoo, he noted that work on establishing an MTCC site in the island has been ongoing for over eight or nine months. Shiham added that approximately 13 supply boats carrying roofing sheets have already been transported to the island.
It has been approximately eight or nine months since construction began on the MTCC site in Meedhoo. During our visit to the island, the contractors hired by MTCC to build the facility informed us that roofing sheets for the site have been delivered on 13 separate supply boats so far. They urged us to look at the situation, noting that despite 13 boatloads of materials, the roof remains unfinished. This suggests that each boat is carrying only one or two sheets of tin at a time. The situation is that dire. This is the reality described to us by the very people MTCC has contracted for the Meedhoo site.Hussain Shiham, the President-elect of the Maduvvari Council.
Shiham stated that although numerous development projects have been awarded to MTCC, the company has lost public trust. He further noted that, unlike in the past, MTCC’s current condition has significantly deteriorated.
Furthermore, Shiham stated that even if MTCC recruits a large number of employees, the public will not accept it if the island's development is neglected, and they will continue to voice their concerns regarding the matter.
