Lawsuit filed in Civil Court regarding MDP Chairperson election!
Attorney Abdulla Shaair has filed a lawsuit in the Civil Court seeking to invalidate the Maldivian Democratic Party’s (MDP) chairperson election timeline, alleging that the process violates the party's constitution. The lawsuit requests that the election proceedings be overseen by the President of the Appeals Judges’ Council, contending that the current conduct of the three-candidate race breaches Article 46 of the party’s governing regulations.

A case has been filed in the Civil Court regarding the chairperson election of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
The lawsuit was filed in the Civil Court by legal counsel Abdulla Shaair.
Regarding the primary requests in this case, one of the key demands is the annulment of the election schedule or timeline previously released by the party.
Furthermore, the lawsuit filed in Civil Court requests that the election proceedings be conducted under the supervision of the President of the Appeals Committee. The case also alleges that the MDP's current actions are in direct violation of Article 46 of the party's primary charter.
According to the relevant article, the Chairperson's election proceedings shall be overseen by the President of the Appeals Chamber.
In the election for the MDP Chairperson, Candidate Number 1 has been assigned to former President Mohamed Nasheed (Anni), of G. Kenereege, Male'.
Candidate number 2 was assigned to Ibrahim Mohamed (Wardu) of Hudhuvilaage, L. Fonadhoo, while candidate number 3 was allocated to the incumbent Member of Parliament for the South Galolhu constituency, Meekail Ahmed Naseem of G. Barosa, Male'.
