Since the conclusion of elections, there has rarely been a day without power outages in Maduvvari: Shiham
Residents of R. Maduvvari are facing significant hardships due to prolonged power outages caused by a technical failure of a major generator at the island's powerhouse. Highlighting the impact of these disruptions, the island’s Council President-elect, Shiham, noted that the frequent blackouts are damaging private property and hindering daily operations, and he urged the government to provide an immediate solution. He further called for a permanent increase in the island's power capacity to adequately meet the needs of the growing population.

Following the three elections held on April 4, Hussain Shiham, the president-elect of the R. Maduvvari Island Council, stated that there have been very few days without power outages on the island.
Speaking on Thursday's "Fashaairu" program on RaajjeTV, Shiham stated that the island has been facing significant power outages. He noted that since April 4, various parts of the island have been experiencing electricity disruptions due to recurring issues.
Addressing the ongoing power outages, Shiham explained that the island is currently being powered by one 800 kW generator and one 500 kW generator. He noted that the current capacity is insufficient to meet demand because a second 800 kW generator has experienced a mechanical failure. Shiham further stated that efforts to repair the faulty 800 kW generator began prior to last Ramadan; however, a permanent solution has yet to be reached.
It has been about two days since the election, and we are seeing daily notices stating that power outages will occur in certain areas to facilitate technical work. According to the information we have received, an 800kW generator set was dismantled for overhaul even before the last month of Ramadan. Given this situation, it does not appear that the government is providing the necessary attention to our island. Currently, it is impossible to meet even our most basic essential needs without electricity. Consequently, we find the current state of the powerhouse unacceptable. However, it should be noted that under the previous administration’s solar program, a solar system was successfully installed at the powerhouse and integrated into the power grid.Hussain Shiham, the President-elect of the Maduvvari Council.
Shiham stated that the current PNC administration does not need to follow the same approach as the previous MDP government in addressing electricity issues. He noted that just because the MDP government brought in a new 800 kW generator, it does not mean the PNC government is obligated to do the same today. He further emphasized that efforts should instead focus on finding a genuine solution to the problem by taking the island's population into account.
Furthermore, Shiham stated that the frequent power outages are a major concern for the island's residents, who are seeking an urgent solution to the issue. He noted that these disruptions are hindering daily activities and causing damage to property.
