It has been observed that appointing officials to other senior government positions after they have left their previous posts is becoming an increasingly common practice under the current administration.

The government has appointed former ministers Adam Shareef Umar and Thoriq Ibrahim, along with former Attorney General Fathimath Dhiyana Saeed, as Ambassadors-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Government spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef has confirmed the matter to several local media outlets.
Adam and Thoriq, who were appointed as Ambassadors-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are among the ministers who resigned from their posts on the 14th of this month. All three individuals were appointed to these positions within the current week.
Adam Shareef and Thoriq resigned in alignment with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s announcement to implement government reforms following the significant defeat in the recent council elections. Even then, the public anticipated that those resigning would be appointed to alternative positions. This public expectation stems from a recurring pattern observed within this administration, where individuals removed from their posts are subsequently appointed to roles within state-owned enterprises, foreign consulates, or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
