An elderly man delivered a pointed message to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during the ongoing series of protests organized by the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) on Saturday.
Speaking at the rally, the elderly man called on the President to remember that a day of reckoning for theft and corruption is inevitable. He asserted that the President should be removed from office for two primary reasons.
The protester stated that the first reason is the President’s violation of his oath of office, while the second is his disregard for the Constitution.
"The Constitution is not something Muizzu can manipulate as he pleases now that he is in power. It is a comprehensive document drafted by many people over a long period to govern this nation effectively," he said.
He further accused President Muizzu of misappropriating taxpayers' money, insisting that the President cannot spend the state's funds at his own discretion.
As the protests continue, members of the public are using the platform to voice their grievances. The demonstrations are held nightly from 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM, beginning near MDP's main headquarters.
