Two Bangladeshi nationals arrested for allegedly smuggling narcotics worth MVR 3.3 million into the Maldives by air
Two Bangladeshi men have been arrested at Velana International Airport for attempting to smuggle over one kilogram of narcotics into the Maldives by air. Following their interception by Customs and subsequent transfer to police custody, the court has remanded the suspects for 15 days as authorities continue their investigation into the matter.

Two Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested for allegedly smuggling a large quantity of narcotics into the Maldives by air.
Police announced on Sunday that two individuals were arrested at Velana International International Airport on April 22 for attempting to smuggle narcotics into the Maldives by air.
Two Bangladeshi nationals, identified as Shiful, 40, and Sajib, 32, have been arrested in connection with this case.
The two individuals were taken into custody by Maldives Customs Service and subsequently handed over to the police on suspicion of smuggling narcotics and prohibited medicines into the country.
According to Customs, the drugs smuggled by the two individuals have a preliminary weight of 1,105 grams. The total street value of the seizure is estimated to exceed MVR 3.3 million.
Police further stated that when the two individuals arrested in connection with this case were produced before the court to determine their remand status, the court ordered them to be detained for 15 days.
The police are currently investigating the matter.
