Suspect remanded for 7 days following knife attack on expatriate
A 28-year-old expatriate has been remanded in custody for seven days following his arrest for allegedly stabbing a Bangladeshi national in the neck on Karankaa Magu in Malé. While the 38-year-old victim continues to receive treatment at ADK Hospital for his injuries, police confirmed that an active investigation into the assault is currently underway.

A Bangladeshi national has been arrested and remanded in custody for allegedly stabbing and injuring a foreign national on Karanka Magu.
Police have announced that a 28-year-old Bangladeshi national, Anthar Mulla, has been remanded in custody for seven days following his arrest for a stabbing in Male'. He is accused of attacking and injuring a foreign national with a sharp object on Karanka Magu during the early hours of April 17, 2026.
Police reported receiving information at approximately 01:08 AM on the night of April 17, 2026, regarding an individual who had been transported to ADK Hospital with injuries sustained from a sharp-edged weapon.
Police have stated that according to the investigation so far, the victim was attacked while on Karanka Magu in Malé. The victim has been identified as a 38-year-old Bangladeshi man. Police further noted that the individual sustained serious injuries to his neck during the assault.
Police stated that they are currently investigating the matter.
