Distribution of 50 tons of dates gifted by Saudi Arabia begins
The Islamic Ministry has begun distributing 50 tons of dates gifted by the Saudi Arabian government, with distribution in the Greater Male' area scheduled to continue at the Islamic Centre until May 14. In the atolls, the dates will be distributed through local councils at a rate of 50 packets for every 100 households.

The distribution of dates gifted by Saudi Arabia to the Maldives has commenced.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments announced on Sunday that it has commenced the distribution of 50 tons of dates gifted to the Maldives by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre of Saudi Arabia.
In the Greater Male' area, the distribution of dates will be managed by the Ministry and held at the Islamic Centre hall. According to the Ministry, the distribution in the capital region is scheduled to take place from Sunday until May 14, between 9:30 am and 1:00 pm daily.
The Islamic Ministry has announced that dates will be distributed to households in Male', Hulhumale', and Villimale' upon verification of the household address, electricity meter number, and the national identity card of the individual receiving the package.
The Islamic Ministry further stated that dates will be distributed to households in cities and islands at a rate of one packet per household until the allocated stock is exhausted. The allocation for each city and island will be determined at a rate of 50 packets for every 100 households.
The Islamic Ministry has announced that the distribution of dates to islands and cities will be conducted through local island and city councils.
The Maldives typically receives an annual donation of dates from the Saudi Arabian government ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. However, the public has expressed concerns this year as the shipment has yet to arrive.
During last year's Ramadan, the Saudi government donated 50 tons of dates to the Maldives, while the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance provided an additional 10 tons. These dates were distributed to households prior to the start of the holy month.
