North Hithadhoo Constituency By-Election: Voters' registry open for disputes until April 27
The Elections Commission has announced that the parliamentary by-election for the North Hithadhoo constituency will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, with the commission further stating that the window for submitting complaints regarding the voters' list will remain open until 2:00 p.m. this coming Monday, the 27th.

The opportunity to submit complaints regarding the voters' register for the North Hithadhoo constituency by-election has been opened until the 27th of this month.
The Elections Commission has announced that the by-election for the North Hithadhoo constituency of the People’s Majlis will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
This election follows a Supreme Court ruling declaring the North Hithadhoo constituency seat vacant. The Elections Commission stated that a by-election will be held to fill the vacancy for the 20th People’s Majlis, following the Supreme Court's judgment in case No. 2025/SC-C/01, which ruled that the seat had been vacated.
The Elections Commission (EC) has informed RaajjeMV that the voter registry for the upcoming by-election has now been published. The Commission noted that the registry is available in the Government Gazette and has also been posted publicly at the Hithadhoo District Office in Addu City.
The Elections Commission (EC) has announced that political parties must submit any complaints regarding the voters' register through the dedicated "Simedha" portal provided to them. According to the Commission, the window for submitting complaints regarding the voters' list will remain open until 2:00 PM this coming Monday, April 27. The EC further clarified that the general public can also lodge complaints through the Commission's main official portal.
The Commission further stated that during this period, individuals will have the opportunity to submit complaints regarding any necessary amendments to verify the accuracy of the registry. These complaints may include requests to add or remove names from the register, as well as requests to rectify existing information. The Elections Commission (EC) also noted that a copy of an official document must be submitted to substantiate the validity of any such complaints.
